This website has been created to facilitate the creation of an adaptation strategy for local governments.
This Online Tool has been funded in part by the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the UKs Department for International Funding and Development (DIFD), and the European Commission via ICLEI funded development projects in Africa. In addition ICLEI globally, the ICLEI Africa office and its members have contributed towards developing, upgrading and utilising the tool and developing its additional resources. In 2009, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability - Africa was awarded funding under the `Climate Change Adaptation in Africa' (CCAA) program to implement a 3 year adaptation to climate change project with 5 cities, in 5 countries, within Sub-Saharan Africa. This project was jointly funded by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Department for International Development (DFID). Later in 2012 ICLEI – Africa was awarded funding from the European Commission for a 54 month project entitled ‘Sustainable Urban Resilient Water for Africa: Developing Local Climate Solutions (SURe Water 4 Africa: Developing LoCS)”. This project is currently being implemented in 6 cities, in 6 countries in Southern Africa. See Supporters page for further information on these projects.
